Somehow in a two-sentence press statement he manages to

  • Say β€œI hope everyone remembers” twice
  • Slip in the racist β€œChina Virus” just to see if it finally sticks this time
  • Take credit for vaccines he had nothing to do with
  • Use unnecessary scare quotes around β€œshot”
  • Again fail to acknowledge that he repeatedly downplayed the threat of the virus
  • Show zero sympathy for the 530,000 Americans who died largely due to his incompetence
  • Baselessly speculate that the world would not have developed vaccines for at least 5 more years without his leadership (even though β€œdeveloping vaccines without his leadership” is exactly what they did)

FFS, Jonas Salk never acted half this cocky about curing Polio and he was actually the guy who cured Polio.

So I guess rather than just β€œpublish” these statements himself on twitter, he now employs someone to create and distribute these β€œstatement” to the press.

You left out β€œimplies that he is still president.” And how in all the deepest hells is he still allowed to use the presidential seal? (or a pretty close approximation thereof)

His Twitter statements were always pathetic and below the dignity of the office of President, but somehow equivalent statements issued in this new format are even more pathetic and make it that much clearer that he’s a small*, sad little man.

*(ETA- obviously I’m using β€œsmall” as in the antonym to β€œgreat”. Nothing against short-statured people.)

It more closely resembles the Great Seal of the United States (not the Presidential Seal) with very subtle changes. But that doesn’t appear to provide much legal cover since there are penalties for misuse of that seal as well.

Update: apparently people have looked into this use already:

Apparently he’s entitled, though his is more obnoxious. See this link for examples by other former presidents.

It is, but if you want to spell it out, the word that immediately comes to mind with Trump is petty. The man once used his fake charity to pay out a 5 dollar admission to the boy scouts. It is hard to think of anyone who ever led a country who nevertheless was only capable of such petty concerns, even when you throw in hereditary tyrants like Nero and Elagabalus.

I really have no issue with Trump using a presidential seal…just as long as it’s used on his prison correspondence.

Embossed on his soap on a rope will do. Ooops rope made in China.

Ted Cruz is now charging $60 a pop to sign copies of a wholly uncontroversial book that he didn’t write, was never withdrawn from publication and was authored by a man who probably would have hated Cruz’s guts (though to be fair that describes pretty much all authors).

He didn’t write it, but he did famously read it on the senate floor during that ridiculous quasi-filibuster in 2013. And, obviously he’s an idiot who completely missed the very simple β€œtry it you may like it” moral at the end of the story, since he was quoted saying the following:
