i liked that piece, but suspect god made a mistake in not firmly establishing in the first commandment the order of the commandments. sure it’d be a little gnu, gnu is not unix, recursive - but god knows* it’d have been less confusing down the line.
( * or should have. heck. come to think of it, ssh’ing the whole thing, and storing the hash on a remote tablet in a separate cave would have made even more sense. dear god, follow some basic security practices already! )

embedded in that was some related horrible news i hadn’t read about before:
In February 2022, Abbott suggested he would pardon 19 Austin police officers indicted on felony charges after being accused of excessive force during the 2020 racial justice protests should they be convicted. And in August 2022, Abbott appointed one of those indicted officers, Justin Berry, to Texas’ regulatory law enforcement agency, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Trial dates have yet to be set for the indicted officers.

Same here, but it’s a sad reminder about echo chambers and how the US government can be manipulated into a tyranny of the minority. The pols who promote those views have been at it for a long time, and now their efforts are bearing fruit. We’re not back to the kind Billie Holiday sang about yet, probably because guns are more popular and easier to use.

A lecture about why racist behavior is hurtful to both other students and the school might make a student feel sad about their own race, which is plainly against Oklahoma law.
Because no one ever seems to point out that the law, in Oklahoma and other states, is created not simply to protect white students from facing reality, but also to make Black students feel sad about their own race. But of course their needs don’t count.

Guy who worked for, defended and promoted a career criminal for four years, and only stopped hanging out with him when the guy’s crime nearly got him and his family killed, is suddenly concerned about a “crime wave”, and offers it up as a valid excuse for killing neighbors who knock on your door or accidentally pull into your driveway.
