My only nitpick with that piece is the statement “Don’t depend on courts or institutions to save us from this guy.” I mean, for sure, just passively depending on that would be a mistake, but courts and institutions have to be central to a successful strategy, or else we’re abandoning the rule of law ourselves. Part of direct action is pressuring courts and institutions to do their fucking job and remove or mitigate the threat piece by piece.
Courts and institutions were the single most effective mechanism of our democracy to counter T**** during his presidency. It’s weird they haven’t been able to act faster once he was voted out, but there certainly is a shitload of activity against him right now.

It takes a long time to get rid of all his appointees. We’ve been lucky that some of them put the law over partisan or financial interests. Still, it could be another decade before those who enabled 45 and other GOP pols are completely replaced.

I’m still angry over the fact that some of the congress critters on record trying to fly in fake electors aren’t sitting in a goddamned jail cell after being tossed from office.

i’m certain part of that was covid. many courts were completely shut down, and it took a bit to get them going again and get through the backlog
( this being so unprecedented i’m sure also has made the process slower. people making sure the groundwork is solid )

Somehow I think most Americans would see the problem if some state or municipality took it upon themselves to start arresting people they suspected of cheating on Federal taxes, but arresting people on suspicion of violating Federal immigration law is supposed to be OK?
