the toxic mix we’ve created by reviving independent military contractors as a thing, and then linking politically motivated terrorism to islam – pretty much ensuring that there are privately held “christian” companies composed of fighters trained for urban environments… some of whom view conspiracy theories as fact.

Good point, he did “retrofit” the novels and as I had not read the originals, wasn’t sure just how much was “update.” But regardless, prescient enough to be quite scary…
i think, just like neuromancer… oops… city come a walking… he had a lot of insight about where the world was going and how tech was going to change things. he was (is!) a little too punk rock and rough around the edges for most. not marketable, and yet still doing his thing. a happy mutant indeed.
ive only read the first from the update, but in the original it’s all still there. it seems to differ mainly in how explicitly he ties it all together.
