Legendary rockstar Prince has passed away

MTV accidentally played a Fresh Prince song in its Prince marathon today.

Yet another reason why MTV is irrelevant…

Oh my gosh! I just realized that I’m gonna die some day.

Ah, so Wolf is both a racist AND a blithering idiot.

We in the US should just call them what the Brits do (or used to do?), “newsreaders.”

If we suspend this account do we all live forever?

This video is permanently burned into my mind.

Life is just a party, and parties weren’t meant to last.

But you can make better choices though!

Seriously; Bowie. Rickman. Prince?

Them you take, but you leave behind despicable excuses for people like Pat Robertson and Dick Cheney?

WTF is up with that, Death?

Is it October already? I thought I was supposed to be getting ready for summer.

I guess he’s a long time lurker, first time poster.

Death is not limited to any single form or any given time, as you well know.

And ‘getting ready for summer’ would really depend upon what part of the world you reside in, methinks.

Death lurking on internet forums actually would not surprise me at this point.

Yes. Given the day of the dead reference, that narrows it down to a hemisphere.

Not necessarily.

I just love the artwork of Sylvia Ji, really:

I was talking about my comment in reference to DOTD and the hemisphere, but we’re far off topic now

OK get back on:

…interview in which Miles Davis discussed Prince: “His father took him to
see James Brown when he was young, he got on the stage and danced with
him. He has that, he has Jimi Hendrix, and Marvin Gaye. … He combines
all that, all the time. That’s what he is. And his concept on the stage
is like Charlie Chaplin." Davis later compared Prince to Brown, Gaye,
Hendrix, and Chaplin again in his 1989 autobiography, this time adding
Sly, Little Richard, and Duke Ellington to the mix. “I think Prince’s
music is pointing toward the future,” he wrote.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s particularly mean spirited. Aside from being annoyed at him for not taking two minutes to say goodbye to him at the end, it’s mostly a pretty positive story. Clearly a lot of these musicians (and other mega famous people) live in their own little worlds, probably surrounded by sycophants for the most part, which only enables their delusional outlook. Hard to blame them for it, and in Prince’s case he’s created so much great music it’s easy to look past his out their views and conspiracy theory leanings.
