Tucker Carlson would be able to come up with a weeks worth of his shows if world peace, love and respect for everyone broke out tomorrow and 99% of the world was happy about it.
“You pussies don’t even like a challenge!!”
Yeah, probably.
Ok… why the yellow one has to have a bowl cut…?
(flashbacks to my yellow ass in elementary school…)
Happy, happy tears.
This set contains a decent amount of actual bricks, which is kind of a novelty for Lego these days, so it succeeds on that basis alone.
It would be nice if companies released their queer coded toys year round. It’s the fact that everyone has rainbow gear just for pride month that makes it seem like a money grab.
I don’t mean to be a massive wet blanket, but there’s so much legislation going around that is created with the intention of harming trans kids right now, that a rainbow lego set (charming as it may be) seems extremely hollow.
Not sure how the Lego corporation is supposed to stop anti-trans legislation.
Short of refusing to sell Lego in places that have anti-trans legislation, which will punish trans kids and cis allies for living in those places, I can’t think of anything.
Also, Denmark is far from perfect, so are they supposed to move the business to Malta (which has probably the most LGBTQ+ friendly government in the world)?
(The ILGA maps don’t show what direction legislation is moving in, so while Denmark may have an equal score to the UK I haven’t heard of a TER infestation in Danish political parties. Yes, I have been researching this for personal reasons.)
That wasn’t really my point. But queer coding seems especially performative this year. Buying rainbow goods is not an effective path to progress.
It is genuinely important for children to grow up feeling represented and valued.
You might not think it’s a big deal for a dark-skinned child to be able to find a doll that looks like them or a girl to find a playset that depicts women working in STEM fields but it really can make a difference for a child’s self-image and ambitions. This is kind of like that.
I am a queer parent with a queer spouse with a queer kid. I am well aware of the issue of representation.
Good, then you can decide for yourself whether this playset is something you want to buy for your child.
