Liberal Tears

Yeah, I remember when they were talking about the recent death of Kalashnikov, they talked about how easy his gun was to “rip off”.

Of course I was just making light of the whole “white men who feel like they are under siege”… I’m no gun expert by any stretch of the imagination… Just make a stupid joke, is all!

I find that pretty impressive, actually.

The PPSH43 was a Russian sub machine gun in WWII. You’re probably thinking of the German Sturmgewehr 44. While similar in looks, they function differently. Like most things, it is a remix. They took the concept of using a smaller round than what rifles of the day were using, and having a large capacity magazine with a stamped metal construction. Like a lot of break through designs, he was at the right place at the right time to combine existing tech into a very well made machine.

I like guns fine. Specifically the Schmidt Rubin k31, which, to my knowledge, hasn’t killed anyone ever.

They do some amazing work, for only having hand-driven tools:

Mind you, Khyber Pass rifles are generally not TERRIBLY reliable. . .

Most of those ripoffs were licensed.

By the way though, I really hope that you folks don’t think that I am a [quote=“anon61221983, post:63, topic:18106”]

Even the people on Boing Boing who like guns don’t seem to fall into that category. But then, I’m biased, because I’m one of the people on here who likes guns…

But, if I can’t match my AK with LeBouton’s, what’s the freaking point?

America: most guns per capita.
America: most gun violence.

Must be a coincidence, amirite?

Most gun owners are not white, not republican, and not rich… but they are predominantly male, by about 20%.

But if you want to hang on to your racist sexist classist stereotypes, be my guest. Its a free country.

America’s murder rate is so high, that even without counting gun crimes, we still beat most other countries in murder per capita. In other words… our non gun murders alone beat most other places murders… guns or not.

So not as correlated as you think.

I’m pretty sure people on here will think whatever confirms their biases.

Sad fact of human nature.

Where do you get that info from?

This page disagrees.

Also there is a massive correlation IMO because guns make extreme violence easy. Beating a person to death is harder and more full-on than pressing a trigger and walking away. On the moral high ground point: meh. Motherfucker make change his tune if something like that happened… I just want him to know that his heartless attitude towards those who’ve suffered gun violence can be replicated in kind.

@Falcor is this better?

Damnit. You are right.

America’s murder rate is so high, that even without counting gun crimes, we still beat most other countries in murder per capita.

This is also not true. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate#By_country

I’m good at internetting

I won’t be upset if you delete that too… I’ve already tweeted it to the douchebag.

Wish I used a better font, but the idiot isn’t worth more than 2 minutes of my time.

Someone’s drunk posting tonight.

Like New Orleans with Louisiana’s insanely lax gun laws?

Or Chicago or DC, with their extremely tight ones.
