Listen to the sounds of 18th century Paris

[Read the post]

I have to admit that most of the sounds sound to me exactly like the city ambient sounds of Baldur’s Gate 2.

I was even expecting a “You must gather your party before venturing forth”.

Nice piece of well-researched history. These days La Seine is so easily visible all along its length that it’s difficult to imagine how completely “invisible” it was in those days, behind all those buildings lining the quays and bridges. (The houses on the bridges were removed in 1786 on orders from Louis XV.) Also difficult to imagine (and impossible to depict in any virtual presentation) is what must have been the stench from the large triperie (for animal stomachs… yum!) located right in the middle of Paris.
