Yep, the original is Animal Hamlet and the direct-to-video sequel is Romeo & Juliet (with lions). Personally Iā€™m waiting for Disney to make one based on Shakespeareā€™s Titus Andronicus just because it would be so awesome to watch the protagonist have to chew off his own paw or trick his blood adversary into eating her own cubs.

I find the end of Watership Down to be similarly eye-opening, right around the time when General Woundwort declares ā€œDogs arenā€™t dangerous.ā€

Then again, the whole thing is pretty goddamned grim, for being about fluffy woodland critters.
