This rot is still deep-seated, as this article indicates.
Luna was elected as a reformer and he’s still closing ranks and making excuses for dodgy behaviour. The state or even the federal government should have stepped in at least a decade ago to clean out this cesspit of thuggery.

This is slightly encouraging, but what are the consequences if the deputies fail to comply? Do they have to move to a new department a couple miles down the road?

I have no idea of the legitimacy / accuracy of the source but someone posted a database of alleged LASD gang members. The same site has a bunch of articles about it.
