If I had to guess, red glasses and red eyes from camera flash combined with face lightening from said flash messed up these results.

Being able to steal souls from the images of imaginary people they’ve generated is almost an unlimited source of energy.

Perhaps they’re harvesting the souls of the not-yet-conceived. Perhaps the store of waiting souls will dry up, leading to a generation of soulless people. Hmm… I smell a weird religious sci-fi.
