So many wires.

You can buy a complete harness if you need to, right?

At least that’s what I was able to do a few decades ago for my Volkswagen.

You took a picture before you took that stuff off, right?

I re-skinned the guards on my speaker cabinets with leftover fencing from when I built my rabbit cage. I’d been thinking about doing it even before I made the cage, but figured it would be hard. it was surprisingly easy. I was able to use a staple gun on the plastic frame without breaking it, and weirdly I had the exact length of wire left to do both speakers. like, within a ¼ inch.

at some point I’m going to paint the cabinets white, too

Not anymore! Fortunately this one is in fine working condition. If I needed a new one, though, I’d have to make it myself.

Stupid smartphones. Oh how I hate them.
But they are getting more and more necessary for everyday tasks, so here is a protective case for mine. Even if I hate it.

The Medusa needs detailing, and will get some in due course.

For many many years every Christmas the week before we have all the nieces, nephews, and their kids over for cookie decorating, at Easter time it’s candy making.

We used to bake cookies from scratch but the last few years we buy unbaked cookies from Gordon Food Service. They come 72 Christmas shaped sugar cookies or 48 gingerbread people to a box. We bake them all one day and filled the boxes today gonna deliver tomorrow. We did 18 of these.

That’s heat transfer vinyl on pizza boxes. A cricut and a heat press come in handy.

Where does the year 1912 come from? I checked and that doesn’t seem significant in the S. Claus chronology.

Since Etsy arrived I rarely make my own graphics anymore. I found that design a few years ago to put on gift plates so I thought it would look good on the box.

In other words, I have no idea, it just looked cool.

We’ve used the m&m logo for a while because of our names. When we leave gifts they immediately know who stopped by. We did the same thing for Halloween only with bags and lots of store bought candy.

We’re the cool great aunt and uncle.

An interesting throttle design here. The inside of the grip has a helical ridge:

The bar has a slot, wherein slides a bolt with its own angled slot to engage the ridge inside the grip.

It’s pretty neat. But, it seems prone to a lot of wear. I’d think the helical ridge or the sliding bolt would get worn down and then jam the works.

been helping out my carpenter buddy.
the upper deck was extant but needed a new floor, then we made all the rails, stairs, and lower deck so getting to the yard didn’t require climbing that hill.

next, this deck had the posts buried and the wood was rotting, so we cut out the posts, dug out the underground concrete piers, poured these raised piers, cut off the rotten parts and reinstalled the original posts.

I have deck envy. The dual-level, hill-bypassing deck is fantastic!

Meanwhile, our deck is literally falling off our house (we’re hoping to demo it this spring and rebuild this summer).

Great design & re-use of the posts. I’ve built a few decks. It’s very satisfying. You get to use math and engineering, but it’s forgiving of small errors or imprecision.

Very nice! I think the Medusa looks great as is!

I too have crafted a protective case for my little computer-radio camera.

This one’s made from filets of corrugated cardboard shipping boxes. The corners are corrugated on the diagonal to create impact-absorbing crumple zones. The thin lowest layer goes short-wise, to prevent bending. The green band covers the camera lens.

Also, a cat toy made from a paper towel core.

What a lovely idea! I hope everybody has fun, and sends pics of their creations around for the family.

Nice work! I really love the rails…

What neighborhood is that in, if you don’t mind me asking?
