Malcolm McLaren's son torched his punk collection to protest the 40th anniversary of punk "celebrations"

A fitting coda

He also rebuffed another suggestion that he should use the proceeds to buy 28,000 guitars and give them to young people to restart the punk movement. “Punk rock to me is not about music,” said Corré. “I don’t know what 28,000 guitars would really do.”

As for Whistler, His father had creditors to pay off; and illegitimacy is such a burden.

I’m not sure sure what “I eschew you” is suppose to imply.

Is it

  1. Mummy and Daddy sent me to good schools, but I’m betraying my class
    or
  2. I’m British.
    or
  3. I used a thesaurus.

He should eschew obfuscation.

Empty also because £170k is chumps change. In London you can’t buy a room with that, let alone a house; and even in the unfashionable NorthWest of England you’d struggle to find a decent 4-bedroom house for less than 200k. It’s the sort of inheritance a civil servant working for a small town council could leave.

Unless there was a missing “m” after that number, it’s basically irrelevant. The founder of Agent Provocateur probably spends more than that on breakfasts every year.

Probably he’s a post-modernist.

The huge political gap between Johnny and Joey Ramone made me like that band even more. The fact that they didn’t let their political differences get in the way of their music was commendable. (Side note: I saw them in the 80s and suffered tinnitus for several days afterward. By day three I thought it was permanent, but it went away later that evening.)

Surely somebody will pay £5m for a tape of him torching that punk collection.

Uh huh. And that’s why the Pistols wrote a song about a WWII concentration camp.

There’s a difference between nostalgia and knowing history. Otherwise Gang of Four, for starters, have a lot of 'splaining to do.
