To make it more believable, I suppose they should have thrown the fish with a bucket of water, if it was supposed to have been ejected from the ocean by a powerful wave. Getting hit by the (real) powerful wave seems to have been a real shock, though… I don’t think that was a level of peril they had signed up for.
