Sounds like we in the USA could learn a few things from the Royal Mail.
But not too much. Posties are largely excellent, operations mostly good, management tending towards a lot of the usual late-stage fuckwittery.
And not stolen either, win?
I hope the USPS doesn’t go in that direction - or turn into another system where the rich can afford a premium service that works while everyone else suffers the consequences because important documents won’t be delivered.
I can’t wait until these government employees deliver our universal health care.
That’s not USPS, though.
My mother used to call that a “lazy man’s load”; overloading to avoid more trips.
You’ve never seen a FedEx or UPS person punt a package?
That’s my standard level of packaging protection. If I’m not comfortable punting it out my front door then it needs more padding.
Then I paid him indirectly when I bought the item he’s tossing around. Point is, he’s getting paid to do his job, he’s not delivering the package out of generosity
Perhaps… just perhaps the question: Would the postal worker have handled the package in a more generally desired fashion if he had known he was being observed?
all down to sack trolley being lost and not found
If we’re going to get into it, “video” is itself a (wrongly conjugated) verb, used as an adjective (in “video tape”) and then abbreviated into a noun; it should have been something like “videndi tape”(?) from the start. Or probably “visus tape”. Anyway the word’s always been a train wreck; at least the part where it became a verb is efficient and understandable.
I imagine they’d probably get, like, doctors and nurses to do it?
My experience is USPS is the best. UPS is the worst. fedex is somewhere in the middle. Package of snowglobes delivered this Christmas came from Target, the package was so destroyed, I took a picture of it on the front step and tweeted it out ‘no way are any of the globes not smashed inside’. Opened it up, and was right. It was like the guy bounced it from the road to the step, instead of putting it inside the door ast instructed to deter the porch pirates running rampant in our town.
He did seem unsteady, I thought it was from the weight of the bag mail over his shoulder throwing him off balance.
USPS is not paid from your tax money.
As I said before…
Oh please don’t absolve this postal carrier of his actions! Proving the guilt of others doesn’t make him innocent.
Maybe he was abused?
Maybe the package was too heavy to carry?
Maybe he works with hostile people, including customers?
All those are fair points.
But he had a choice!
If the box was too heavy he could of left it on the truck. Being safety minded, it’s highly doubtful he’d be fired. Management should support his action.
Or, he could have asked another carrier for help?
Or, he could have rung the customer’s doorbell and asked for help? Yeah, I know, crazy idea! Think about it. We could have seen a beautiful, tear jerking, Hallmark moment of delivery joy…brought to us by a doorbell camera.
Unfortunately, some people think help is a dirty four letter word
