I like my legend better. Lets agree to disagree. 
I just prefer more interesting and provable facts versus speculation and wild theories.
The facts are, Ian Fleming was in Canada 1942 and in proximity to the St. James Bond church while training during the war time effort, that is not fiction. We will draw our own conclusions. 
Versus the facts of where Fleming was quoted personally of where he got the name from?

Serving on a military base at the time, James Bond may have been code you have bought and stashed the booze on base.
Fellow Cadet: “Cadet have you completed the interest?”
Cadet: “I am James Bond.” which confirmed affirmative.
Ian Fleming I would suggest, to save the integrity of himself and his chums offers later in years the suggestion was for a ‘Scientist’.
At least that theory is a little more interesting. Still, not going to be any where near the truth.

I’d watch a Felix Leiter movie, maybe in-between saving Bonds ass he can overthrow a South American democracy.

A black woman playing Bond? Sure, why not? The womanizing, witty murders, bizzare collections of expertise, none of t hese would be any harder to swallow with a black woman than with a white man. But if they really want to subvert the paradigm, put Bond undercover as a convincing gay man, and pull those same shenanigans on male targets. I would pay good money to watch that, and I doubt Im the only one.

The series has been done as long as I can remember. Anything the producers can do right now to shake it up will be a good thing.

Felix has always been a guy on film. In Moonraker you had CIA agent “Holly Goodhead” and a few other female CIA agents in other films.

Yeah, keep her as James. I really like how in the new Star Trek, it really didn’t take long at all for me to adjust to the idea a black woman could be called “Michael”.
