I’m afraid I have to agree with MTG here. I fear that Target is going to drive all the main street, small town, mom and pop purveyors of butt plugs right out of business!

You’ve hit on one of the major reasons I personally want to end the practice of making sex toys something shameful. You want to put something in your butt? Wonderful! If you do it correctly, it’s a very pleasurable thing to do. Here’s the safety information you need to know … (And that talk should not have to start with “Don’t put light bulbs or firecrackers in your ass.”)
Of course I’m always a bit confused when Republicans, the party of “business and freedom” make statements like these. Do they need to start adding “We didn’t mean like that!”

While I absolutely encourage Target to carry them as it promotes the idea that such things are normal and nothing to be ashamed about, I’d still encourage you to shop at your local sex shop (assuming you have one and it’s not some sleazy back-of-the-truckstop shack that actually encourages toys to be considered shameful because that trope helps with their sales.) The staff is far more knowledgeable, almost certainly friendlier, locally owned, and probably does far more to make things better for your community than Target or similar stores.
