it depends who you’re talking about. for trump, the history seems to show that the grift is rarely far from the surface. still, it’s hella irresponsible for him to do this just to raise cash.
for the republican establishment, they’re likely tired of dealing with trump and as i said in a comment yesterday, they aren’t actively trying to help trump break democracy but it creates a tension that is useful to their run-off fundraising and if trump does manage to break democracy they won’t mind.

the number of libertarian votes dropped by almost 60% from 2016. i doubt they effected the results by much of anything.

While the federal gov’t doesn’t entirely listen to him, there’s likely some shitbags in CIA/NSA who do. And whoever else Roger Stone knows. He wants to be Putin. Putin didn’t obtain kompromat on just one guy, he took down everyone he could.

They probably rationalize it by thinking “I have to kiss his ass for another couple of months to stay on the job. Imagine the damage that would be done if Trump fired me and appointed a real ass-kisser!”

So according to the video below, where he analyses the validity of the various legal suits, he has a bit more of the transcript to your second screen cap, showing the lawyers trying to dance around the question.
Diamond: “Are your observers in the counting room?”
Trump Campaign: “There’s a non zero number of people in the room.”
Diamond: “I am asking you as a member of the bar of this court…”
Evidently when a Federal Judge asks you to respond as a “member of this court” it means you better not lie and the judge is pissed off. Reminding them that if you lie it is a violation of your lawyerly ethics and could be later referred to a bar council.
^^^ This analysis helped relieve some anxiety that some of these lawsuits had validity and/or the desired effects and whether they would effect the election.
