Mike Pompeo: "There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration"

totally agree

Is there any case in that list where the fraudulent election favored the challenger?

As I said, there’s literally millions of dollars involved here - Biden doesn’t get the transition money for his team if the transition never officially happens. The whole issue of security clearances as well. There’s a reason Biden’s now bringing legal action over this - because it’s not trivial.

It is fairly obvious that the definition they’re trying to use for “legal votes” is “votes for Trump”.

They need to be told and told again and again what the truth is. Forcefully if need be.

The only case I can find where there was election fraud such that the incumbent party lost is the republican fantasy version of the 1960 US election. Are they still reliving that in their minds?

Yes, they really are.

Hilariously, Zucc suggests I need to think twice before sharing this on FB.

3ish things.

  1. I once had a boss who was acting irrationally, to the point where I would get yelled at, actually yelled at for doing the thing that I said we shouldn’t do that he made me do… YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER!!..to which I said “I did” (I was young). When I sought help from other bosses I got “I like to use the sane man theory, he must have a sane reason…” (nope, untreated stomach cancer and generally an asshole, was allowed to quit his previous job vs. arrested).

  2. family friends with a former gov of our state (democrat), the night of the inauguration 2016 we all had dinner, my wife and I expressed our fear and he said “don’t worry, the carrier bureaucracy will keep him from doing any harm”… yah about that.

  3. don’t go look up the TED talk about how he could be constitutionally sworn in for a second term even when he lost the electoral and popular vote if you wanna sleep at night.

I think he will be able to recruit good talent, as he’s had contact with a lot of people from his Senate and WH careers, but all of them will be flying blind in the first month or so.

Wondering how much of the delay is because between existing charges in SDNY and info of other illegal activity that may soon be reported once Biden is fully briefed on intelligence, Donnie may want as much time to delay and as much chaos in DC as possible. He may hope his legacy to be “and in the confusion, I escaped”.

He lost - and Biden will be sworn into office.

Let Trump have some nightmares now.

Steve Bannon and a whole bunch of accelerationist shitheads want to provoke all out anarchy. He’s never stopped working toward that end.

Um… no. NC does not even remotely put him near 270, nor was that even one of the ones that were considered as such. Biden has a solid lock on PA, MI, and NVn and GA is most likely going for Biden, too.

He lost. Moreover, we have real problems that need addressing, as a nation and as part of the global community that Trump and his cabinet of grifters are entirely incapable of addressing, serious, existentialist issues.

This might all be some god damn game to you, but it’s not.

I just have to push back on this as this is a perennial annoyance of mine. I’m tired of people painting any less than, say, 80-20 as any kind of mandate. 60-40 isn’t a mandate either, or a landslide as it is often called by pundits. 52-48 might as well be a tie. Just because it isn’t nail bitingly close doesn’t mean it’s any kind of Demand From The People. Biden won, but let’s not pretend that 76 mil out of ~330 mil represents jack or shit or anything other than he won a majority. Almost every election this becomes part of the national conversation and it’s just wrong. Numerically that 6 million edge is huge, but as a percentage its trivial, and as a percentage of the total population is even more trivial.

I believe your opinion is just that; a mere opinion.

Velcome to BB, comrade.

Insufficient to impress you personally ≠ numerically wrong.

No one said you have to consider it a mandate.

Also, 52 to 48 ≠ a tie.

After several news stories about various Trump appointee’s pretending that he won the election and that they will remain in place “business as usual”, as well as a number of news stories about career professional civil servants resigning in protest over unethical/illegal orders, I’m now wondering:

How much of the career civil servant professional bureaucracy remains in place? And how much of it (especially on the higher levels) have resigned (or been fired) to be replaced with bootlckers who have no interest, or investment in the proper running of the government, and will gleefully ignore the constitution and the law, and simply refuse to turn over the government to the incoming administration?

There are 2,100,000 federal employees.

A President appoints about 4,200 people.

I wouldn’t read too much into that. He also went golfing about 30 minutes after visiting his dying brother for the last time. Golfing when he should be worrying about more serious stuff is his default mode.
