I found out the other day that Mnuchin was the first Treasury Secretary since 1948 to tour Fort Knox, and no president has toured it since FDR at the dedication ceremony. For some reason it made perfect sense, that an obscenely wealthy and connected trust fund baby felt he needed to see all that gold bullion in person. He would be the most empty of all the empty suits in the administration, if not for the guy at the top.

Nah, I’m gonna say his trophy wife Louise Linton is the one who drove the idea. Lord help me for calling a woman a gold-digger, but her behavior says it all. He’s a smitten kitten trying to keep her impressed enough to stay with him.

The timing of this statement in proximity to America’s Thanksgiving holiday is not lost on me, though the irony may well be lost on that aforementioned specific subset of humans.
