MSNBC: "Trump is fixated on sham GOP audit in Arizona" and expects to be reinstalled as President this summer

That’s not only the worst part, that’s literally the reason for all this crap. They all know there’s zero chance he’ll suddenly return to power this year, or next, or the year after. This is all setting up to run again in 2024 under the banner “they stole it from me!” while further trying to pass Jim Crow style voter suppression laws in as many states as possible to ensure he’ll win.

The real rock bottom: this shit works, it’s GQP playbook chapter 3. Every. Fucking. Time. Because nothing says gullible dipshit like “I’m a GQP voter!”

Hopefully time, stress, bad diet, advanced age and poor health will have taken their full toll by then.

Very, very dangerous thinking this. Power belongs to those that can grab it. Revolutions happen, putsches happen, coups happen. The US got bloody close earlier this year, remember?

The US now has a shadow-president with wide support even in the army and police by people ready and capable of using violence.

Legal arguments can always be made up afterwards, his christian supporters are good at apologetics after all. Washington had no legal mechanism to create a United States and yet…

Federal House of Representatives and Queensland Legistative Assembly elections must have a number against each candidate otherwise the vote is informal as it would be if left blank or having ’ None of the above’ written on it. Queensland City or Regional Council elections are optional preferential so as long as a clear preference is made for one candidate the vote is formal. So it is important that voters are reminded what the system is at each election.

The democracy sausages and cake stalls are fund raisers for the schools or churches where the polling places are. There were disappointed voters at the last Queensland election last year as due to Covid there were no stalls held.

These days with pre-poll voting for the two weeks prior to polling day it is getting so that about at least a third of the electorate has already voted before polling day.

Usually not as they only have a BBQ not a deep fryer.

In Australia we have independent electoral commisions at federal and state level that run the elections and determine electorate boundaries. Polling places have a large banner stating ‘Polling Place’ placed outside them. You are able to vote at any polling place your electorate, of which there can be more than a dozen in urban electorates. You can vote absentee in any poling place in the state.

The last conservative government in Queensland brought in voter id requirements but they were so eager to implement all their neo-con wet dreams they went from a historic majority to losing office in one three year term and the Premier lost his own seat. Those requirements have since be repealed.

Though the AEC and ECQ send your a card that lets you know which electorate you are in with a QR code that can be scanned by the polling workers to speed up things, though you can just tell them your name and address.

With participation in the high 90% the $20 fine is not incured too often as a reasonable excuse is usually accepted. Though if your really want to be an arsehole you probably could put in a great deal of effort and get prosecuted.

Independent Electoral Commissions, the ‘Cradle of Democracy’ ™ aught to try them sometime.

Yes, I’m aware of the danger. I’m just saying that if Trumpists make further attempts to put their guy in office it won’t be through any of the existing legal processes they’re currently imagining. As I said, the only way Trump gets “reinstated” before 2024 is by dropping any pretense of legal process and allowing Flynn to have his military coup.

Here’s a (plausible?) path to getting back presidency:

  • run for Congress and win
  • GQP wins house majority
  • he becomes speaker of the house (booting Nancy)
  • impeaches and convicts Biden and Harris
  • speaker becomes president
  • My family and I emigrate to Canada

I think he said Master of the House.

I mean people are mocking him, and rightly so, but this is a guy who encouraged people to storm the capitol, and simultaneously burned them, convinced them to do it again, and will pay zero consequence for it.

I have no doubt in my mind he’ll get the people to successfully pull off a coup. If anyone can, and can get away with it, it’s this guy. He almost already did and he’s not only NOT being discoruaged from doing it again, he’s being tacitly given the green light to try it again. We’re already on track even if this was a legitimate and normal cycle to lose the house next term, and likely the senate too, and it’s only going to go to MORE people like MTG and Hawley and Gaetz and others.

His scenario is both a joke, and extremely possible.

And that day cannot come soon enough…

A day when they only self harm, rather than try to take the rest of us down with them.

I misread “Qnuts” for a moment, and was surprised at the strong language. Then I realized my mistake.

He doesn’t have enough support inside or outside the government to regain control of the Executive branch, but he may very well have enough to burn everything to the ground. It requires a much smaller portion of society to disrupt than it takes to govern.

Well, that’s what I suspect he’d do.

Burn it, and then use what’s left of the legislative to appoint him president.

See, he doesn’t have to run for office to be the speaker of the house. The speaker of the house doesn’t necessarily need to be a congress critter.

It’s impolite and offensive of course. Buuuut… if ever a transposition of letters felt more appropriate… I haven’t seen it.

Remember guys, the speaker is third in line to the throne.

Step one, get a bare republican majority in congress.
Step two, get appointed speaker

Step three and four-- remove Harris and Biden from office
Step five: " Hegel remarks somewhere that all great world-historic facts and personages appear, so to speak, twice. He forgot to add: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce."
