I don’t think you’re a Nazi and I believe you when you say you don’t see any viable alternatives, but I do think you’re making justifications for being an enabler of Musk and his fascist fanboys. Twitter is not mandatory. There doesn’t NEED to be an alternative. Even before Musk, Twitter was a flawed, toxic, barely-moderated wasteland where bigotry was encouraged and the rules didn’t apply if you were rich or famous enough. I see using Twitter or Facebook as an unhealthy habit, like cigarettes. And if your favorite brand of cigarettes is suddenly run by Nazis and none of the other ones satisfies you, maybe it’s time to make the hard choice and quit smoking, rather than supporting Nazis while hoping an alternative will some day arrive.

Thanks for all that. FYI, that last link is a list of alternatives to the official Twitter client for…reading Twitter. Which I’m hearing I should stop doing. As for the rest, there’s a sum total of…one that I would consider anywhere near as useful, that isn’t also a conservative cesspit. Guess I’ll check Mastodon out.
