Mute button will be used at Thursday's presidential debate

I was thinking more putting a DJ mixer in front of the moderator, so it’s easy to cut one of the mics.

I hope the podiums are physically separated enough that Biden can just tune out/ignore what Trump is saying when Trump’s mic is muted, because the interruptions were as much about trying to throw Biden off his game than they were about being heard.

The good news is that both the first debate and the dueling town halls were a lot better for Biden’s numbers than Trump’s, because the more of Trump that undecided voters see the less they like him.

This was solved a long time ago. Put them in two “jeopardy-style” booths with a plexiglas window

There are very fine people on both sides… everyone has focused on how he could possibly defend white supremacists, but that’s his cult. That’s who he cares about.

I’d really press him to tell us about the very fine people on the left. When he says there’s very fine people on both sides, please, tell us about the important work being done by Democrats, and Socialists, and Black Lives Matters. Don’t feed into his stupid dog whistle about Nazis, make him talk about how great the left is. Because if he can’t, what he’s left with is, Nazis are very fine people, no one else is.

But it would be worth all the internet rage and manbaby tears if he managed to compliment people on the left.

The moderators have gotten tougher each time on him. Is it possible that they will cut him off on their own if he goes off the rails?

What? Mute trump until he is addressed. Don’t give him any more opportunity to bluster and lie.

Where does his campaign manager get off claiming this is favoritism. You mean we have to set the stage to allow trump to be a bully? And that’s fair? Microcosm of what’s wrong with trump.

Finally. Well, if there’s one thing I can thank DJT for, it’s the introduction of the Mute switch to presidential debates. I’ve been wanting them to do this for years.

i think this is all well and good, but i didn’t see any mention of making damn sure that the Superspreader in Chief and his entire entourage have negative covid tests before they even enter the building. none of this “oh sorry we were running late, yeah, yeah, we’re all negative, honest” bullshit.

“Other than those initial two-minute periods, both microphones will be hot to guarantee maximum idiocy.”

Sorry. Not good enough.
Lord Dampnut still gets to blather all he wants the rest of the time. I wonder whose idiot idea this was…
If the venue has a ‘mask only’ policy, and if Lord Dampnut’s hellspawn pulls the same stunt they did liast time, I hope they quite publically get thrown out. Live, on air, during the ‘debate’.
It would be amusing to see his reaction.

OK this is my new favorite question for Trump. Hats off to you fine sir.

The previous one was “In Obamagate, what actions do you believe Obama took that you think a President isn’t legally allowed to take?”

Due to the nature of the virus and the tests, he’s probably at the stage where he would test negative while still being contagious.

I won’t see it; I have zero interest in watching or listening to anything that orange grifter has to say.

Saying? I hope they have the plastic screens in case Trump starts flinging poo.

Except for the mute, this is going to be like the first debate, on steroids.

Usually that’s just an expression.

He can go on and on about how the rules don’t apply to him, how he can do whatever he want because Article II says it does (narrator: it doesn’t), and how dare anybody question his judgment because he won in a landslide (narrator: he didn’t).

Meanwhile everything Obama did (or is at least accused of doing) as president was illegal, immoral, and illegitimate because the rules Trump applies to himself as president didn’t apply to Obama?

How does logic that even work?

(And yes, I know, Trumplogic is only consistent in its inconsistency, but just, fuck…)

this far out from when he tested positive, he’s actually probably not contagious any more, but still – others in his entourage might be asymptomatic carriers.

No. With COVID-19, you’re still contagious until 10 days after you last had a fever or lacked fever without anti-febrile medication. He’s not 10 days out from his minimum Dexamethasone course, yet. He still seems pumped up with Dex, so I doubt he’s even finished his course. If he drops completely out of public view for at least 2 days, then you might guess he’s come off of Dex and feeling like shit. Frankly, a person with no disease at all, undergoing a 10 day course of High-dose Dex, is going to be be bedridden for a couple days when they stop. A geriatric, obese person with COVID-19 is going to be in a deep fucking hole when they stop their course.

Technically, you’re still contagious then, but scientists have called that the last day when you’re shedding enough to infect someone else through close contact.

Trump will just start screaming, banging on the plexiglass, trying to loom behind Biden - whatever it takes.

I hope they brought puppy pads for the mess.

I have a modest proposal. Wire both candidate’s testicles to electrodes. A computer then has access to the audio feed of both candidates microphones. If a signal that doesn’t correlate to the microphone of the candidate whose turn it is to speak or that of the moderator(s) is detected on the non-speaking candidate’s microphone then a charge differential is applied to the non-speaking candidate’s electrodes. The differential is increased on each subsequent detection. Though the candidate whose history has brought about these arrangments may find this is too enjoyable and continue flapping his gums anyway.
