[insert bleaching joke here]
It’s a pale slightly-greenish gray, like Uranus.
glaucous (wikipedia)
Glaucous (from Latin glaucus, from Ancient Greek γλαυκός (glaukós)
‘blue-green, blue-grey’) is used to describe the pale grey or
bluish-green appearance of the surfaces of some plants, as well as in
the names of birds, such as the glaucous gull
Came here for this.
So, wait, it’s greener in the summer? Has anyone checked to make sure that isn’t chlorophyll?
Must be be running out of Blue Flame Takis
This comment is the part I appreciate most.
The thing is, the wavelengths of the filters used to create the individual images that are composited to create the full color image are usually NOT picked to be close to the ones that the cones in our eyes respond to. Rather they are picked to be able to tell us something scientifically interesting. So instead of red they may use near infrared.
