"Nerds For Her" unites fandoms behind Hillary Clinton

If enough people do that, whose fault is it really? An experienced politician versus ISIS’ top recruiter, and people want to vote for neither. Something’s wrong there.

I’m just saying … there is danger in “if you’re not in a swing state and want neither, go ahead and vote 3rd party”. That should be a measured decision regardless of whether or not you’re in a swing state.

May contain actual facts! Well, a few, anyway. But you hit this right away:

“for a surprisingly large percentage of the electorate, the claim that Hillary is innately dishonest is simply accepted as a given. It is an accusation and conviction so ingrained in the conversation about her that any attempt to even question it is often met with shock. And yet here’s the thing: it’s not actually true. Politifact, the Pulitzer prize-winning fact-checking project, determined for example that Hillary was actually the most truthful candidate (of either Party) in the 2016 election season.”

Here’s what Politifact actually shows, though:

Hillary Clinton’s record:

Here’s another 2016 contender, sadly no longer in the race:

Another useful fact-checker site is the Washington Post; their judgements tend to be a bit harsher than politifact, but the final conclusion is the same: Secretary Clinton lies a lot less than the Republican candidate.

OK, that’s probably more than enough from me on this topic. Get out and vote! It should be fairly clear who the lesser evil is, if you are in a place where that matters.

Trump is Chaotic Evil, with high charisma, low wisdom, low constitution.
Hillary is Lawful Neutral, moderate charisma, high constitution.
Bernie is Lawful Good, high charisma, medium strength, low dexterity.
Gary Johnson is Chaotic Good, maybe a bit higher on wisdom than intelligence, very high constitution.
Ted Cruz is Lawful Evil, high intelligence, negative charisma, impolite in spite of being Canadian.
Jill Stein? Hard to say. She’s on the side of Lawful Good, but she’s kind of flaky herself. Low dexterity.

(I’m in California, safely voting for Gary Johnson, but if you’re in a swing state, please vote for Hillary, even if you don’t like her.)

“Vote for Hillary and hate yourself for doing it” is a rational choice for a lot of people. I’m actually glad I don’t get a vote this time.

I have never voted for Labour in General Elections in the UK since Tony Blair became Prime Minister (Jeremy Corbyn will break a habit of a lifetime, if he can remain leader). We do have more choice than in the US though.

I’d say he’s Chaotic Neutral at best. His policies regarding LGBT and POC are not good (in either sense).

I could see casting Hillary as Dolores Umbridge.

There are a lot more people ready to vote for a Chaotic candidate this time around.

But…the NEXT election is 2018.

AND MIDTERMS CAN BE THE MOST IMPORTANT.

Sorry for shouting.

I want to, but who?

As I am an Illinoid for this election, I have 4 options for President.

  • Hillary
  • Trump
  • Johnson
  • Stein

Third party leaves me Johnson or Stein. A few of Johnson’s positions are OK, but I am NOT a libertarian so his economic policies just are wrong for me to support. I want to like Jill, but her (IMHO) pandering to WiFI-gonna-kill-ya crowd is too much.

If Vermin Supreme were on the card, I’d be all over him at this point.

That midterm will be the MOST important we’ve had in a while.

Well, Clinton is going to have to really live up to her platform in her first two years so that Dems will turn up to vote unlike normal.

Oh. I know we’re screwed. You didn’t have to say it.

I don’t think that’s really true of Hillary. She’s got her faults but she’s not significantly worse than any other major-party candidate in living memory except for maybe Jimmy Carter (the only POTUS of the last century who never bombed anybody).

Ugh, more personal-investment creepiness. We’re supposed to be electing an administrator, an executive, not your best-pal who shares your sub-cultures. It’s a cheap lazy ploy to piggy back on communities that actually bothered to win your fandom.

This is a corollary to the ol’ saw about mixing religion and politics- mixing politics and your favorite (movie/show/book) is a bad idea because it isn’t going to make politics any better, and it’s going to sully your favorite (movie/show/book).

It shouldn’t be true of Clinton. Not sure it isn’t, though.

I have little love for Jimmy Carter. He was part of an international group responsible for overseeing the Venezuela presidential elections that saw Hugo Chavez elected (or re-elected, i forget which), and despite the rampant cheating and large amount of evidence of shenanigans Jimmy Carter gave his ok to the findings as the results being legitimate. He might’ve as well bombed a country.

Well, fine. If that’s your view then Hillary isn’t significantly worse than any candidate in living memory.

People want to vote for Johnson, but he keeps shitting the bed. What gives?

The next Presidential election won’t be until 2020, but the horse race will start in 2017 or 2018.
