These stories are becoming almost as routine as those about anti-LGBTQ Xtianist preachers getting caught cruising for male sex partners.

Also, cruelty to small animals is an entirely appropriate characteristic of movement conservatism…

Oh, for Hell’s sake … How did someone think “animal-related community service” was a good idea for people convicted of torturing a cat?

Or should I just be glad they weren’t given “community service” for torturing a human being?

I recoiled hard on reading what they did to the cat. That’s… significantly worse than I’d assumed. That’s sadistic behavior at a level that only happens with people who utterly lack empathy and who represent a real, ongoing threat to other people as well as animals.

Expunging their records after some community service wasn’t a responsible choice. I’m glad that it’s been brought to light, and I hope he is asked about it in specific detail and forced to address it publicly.

These people are so relentlessly “on-brand” it’s exhausting.

At least they didn’t eat it

Given how prone conservatives are to projection, I’m not so sure.

Every time the NRA comes up, I already think of their former lawyer, who shaped the organization in a lot of ways, whose “youthful indiscretions” involved armed robbery and murdering his girlfriend’s mother, a conviction overturned on a technicality after the cops screwed something up. He spent his career advocating for laws and policies to ensure that the “wrong sort” of (read: brown) people couldn’t have access to firearms. I just assume they’re all fucking (racist) psychopaths.

But likely done for pleasure. What the actual fuck is wrong with some people?

Oh, y’all, hold on, it gets worse.

Paul Campos at the Lawyers, Guns and Money blog says he was an undergraduate at UMich at the time this happened, and he heard from multiple people that this was much, much worse even than what made the papers.

Though the frat members claimed the cat was tortured and killed because he wouldn’t use his litterbox, campus scuttlebutt says the frat learned that their “house dad” was gay, and they killed the cat because the house dad owned the cat.
