To give it a bit more context - he’s not paid during the suspension and it amounts to about $1.6M as a fine, and there is a player’s union (which, like any union, generally frowns on the dismissal of its members without warnings).

Committing a federal felony and endangering your teammates seems like it should be one of those bright line things that don’t need a warning.

The question of whether he will face criminal prosecution for the forgery is undetermined. Kane may well not play again with Anaheim; his teammates have already indicated they find him a disruptive influence (at the end of last season). Other allegations against him from his wife are very serious and might end his career. He won’t be back after the suspension at any rate

The dude also owes multiple millions in gambling debts. I suspect a $1.6M gap in his income is not going to go well for him. By all reports he’s a trainwreck of a person in many ways.
