As annoyed as you guys get about appropriation, how is there a band called Gypsophilia made up of white folks from Canada… and their name never comes up? I only ask because, being Romani myself, I’m baffled by the idea that we’re fashion more than we are people, and that even very up-with-people types seem unconcerned because anymore we’re fetishized Halloween costume copies of a real group of cultures, and that’s okay with everybody else, I guess. It’s the 21st century, for fuckssakes.
