I guess it’s just a little shocking to see a propaganda video from them that’s as blatantly insane as LaPierre himself. When it was just him saying these things, well, we all know Wayne Lapierre is a nut. But when his words are in someone else’s mouth, it’s terrifying, because it’s not just one unhinged guy yelling behind a podium, it’s a recruitment video for a movement.
One day LaPierre will kick the bucket and some young person will take charge and start apologizing like crazy.
But… but… You missed where he said that the ad “did not actually mention guns or shooting anyone.” His contention is backed up by the fact that the NRA, which sponsored the ad, has never shown any interest in firearms.
[Seriously, it just goes to show you the level of intellectual dishonesty it takes to defend this repulsive ad in any way]
This makes me ashamed to be a supporter of the second amendment. I used to think that the NRA was simply misguided in it’s representation of the people, but fuck.
Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster I never gave the NRA any money.
The only reason that the NRA supports the 2nd Amendment is that it’s the only one that discusses the product sold by the industry that it lobbies for. Every other reason the org gives is incidental to that one.
I thought it was interesting how, and a rhetorical level, this spot buddies up with the police after the NRA has spent the last decade complaining about how the government is on the verge of taking all your guns away.
The rifle clubs around here all require you to be an NRA member to join. I’ve thought about doing it and trying to stir shit up as a member, kind of like buying stock in a company so you can be a pain in the ass at their investors’ meeting.
So now they go from ‘we must be armed in case the government does bad things’ to ‘we must shoot anyone that opposes the government’?
Meh… nutballs will nutball.
Mind you i am for gun ownership, but in a more limited and responsible manner, as what the average person can realistically own does not equate tomillitary hardware, which is what the constitution was written in a time of.
Trump is going to show up in a mask, start fires, and beat people with a bike lock or a bat? Or sabotage pipelines or railroad bridges?
If you dislike Trump, which is a reasonable position to take, then don’t start an insurgency, which could lead to people getting killed. Instead, vote for someone else in three years.
We should all be united in condemning political violence or lawlessness no matter who is doing it or what their politics.
Hell no. Unjust laws exist and should be resisted, by violence if necessary. People who want to claim “Violence shouldn’t be on the table!” forget that VIOLENCE IS THE TABLE.
The Rules Are A Peace Treaty.
And if the peace treaty is no longer mutually beneficial, then the rules will be broken, and violence will ensue.
It’s warning about imaginary things: schools teaching kids that Trump is literally Hitler. Obama “endorsing” that idea. Liberals “terrorizing the law abiding”. Liberals using ‘award shows’ to ‘teach their narrative’.
And it’s saying that the only way (not the best way, the ONLY way) to stop this is to fight it with the “clenched fist of truth” by joining the NRA.
It doesn’t have to spell out “arm yourself against the liberals”. That’s what it’s saying.
