NRA ads says Americans need guns to shoot "the Resistance"

When did MADD win? We’ve still got a big drunk driving problem in this country. Uber and Lyft help, but we likely won’t see a big drop in alcohol-related vehicle deaths until self-driving cars are ubiquitous. I personally know of three people killed in three separate drunk driving incidents, either because they were impaired or another driver was.

Do you know who else fought the Resistance?

I’m usually leary of echo chambers, but hey, as long as the echoes aren’t, ya know, small arms…

Oh, and NRA - Fuck right the fuck off.

I had the same idea. Except I have muslim neighbors. So my thought process was more along the lines of “What am I going to do if some fucking nazis show up to scream at and beat my neighbors”.

I sure as hell am not gonna just watch.

So the NRA is saying that, hypothetically, if a bunch of left-wing anarchists start sabotaging and murdering, then it would be okay for right-minded citizens to shoot them in defense of their community. They’re not calling for violence against actual people, only against fictional mobs of anarchists. So it’s okay.

Perhaps they’ll do an ad about every American’s right to defend themselves against zombies.

I’m confused now. I thought the NRA was the “Resistance” against, uh… hang on, I forget what I wanted to say here now. Sanity?

Thanks for the assist. I pretty much refer to all Republicans as the TGOP now thanks to the crap they are pulling.

I was grateful for this translation. I had genuinely been imagining that you frequent a popular bird hunting website/forum, where you share an appreciation of the tools of the trade but not the politics of many of the other regulars…

i don’t know why anyone is shocked, or even surprised, by this video. the nra under wayne lapierre has been talking like this for close to two decades now. starting in the 90s with lapierre’s infamous reference to atf agents as “jackbooted government thugs.”

after sandy hook in 2012 lapierre said–

"The truth is that our society is populated by an unknown number of genuine monsters — people so deranged, so evil, so possessed by voices and driven by demons that no sane person can possibly ever comprehend them. They walk among us every day.

… Killers, robbers, rapists and drug gang members who have spread like cancer in every community in this country. Meanwhile, federal gun prosecutions have decreased by 40% — to the lowest levels in a decade.

So now, due to a declining willingness to prosecute dangerous criminals, violent crime is increasing again for the first time in 19 years! Add another hurricane, terrorist attack or some other natural or man-made disaster, and you’ve got a recipe for a national nightmare of violence and victimization."

in 2014 he said–

"… So to preserve our values and protect our freedom, America needs the good guys to step up like never before. That’s us. We are the good guys who will not stand idly by as the dishonest political and media elites strip our values away.

The National Rifle Association—all that we believe in and fight for—has become a metaphor for the core American liberty we all want preserved. The NRA is where you resist, and stand and fight to put America back on track to restore and preserve our individual freedom."

in february of this year he said–

"Make no mistake, if the violent left brings their terror to our communities, our neighborhoods or into our homes, they will be met with the result and the strength and the full force of American freedom in the hands of the American people, and we will win because we are the majority in this country,”

this is the same violent hysteria they’ve been pushing for years. in the 80s i gave money to the nra because i regarded them as a civil liberties organization just like i did the aclu. by the mid 90s i had stopped because they were starting to sound like a terrorist organization.

edit–corrected for spelling issues.
