Mental illness exists everywhere, and lots of countries have poor funding for treatment but still don’t have mass shootings. It really is in large part the ready availability of weapons of war.

A lot of hunting grounds ban use of magazines that hold more than 5 rounds. Because hunters firing wildly in semi auto are major hazards to other hunters or people using the same wilderness.
High capacity magazines are designed for military purpose weapons. To kill a lot of people is a short amount of time. Attempts to pretend they are meant for hunting is simply hyperbole and excuse making.

Its also a safety issue with other hunters who may be in the area. Fewer shots at a time mean less likely to accidentally hit another hunter who might be in the area that you are unaware of

Fair point. And not just hunters but anyone who may be in the area. Or people and residences outside the hunting area. Bullets travel a long way.
The sort of places with huge (as in thousands) of pigs in a herd where that sort of cull is done tend to be fairly in the middle of nowhere and on private land. And apparently its most commonly done from a elevated positions so that you’re shooting towards the ground, and thus there is always a safe backstop.
Like I said really specific circumstances.

ANTIFA’s body count can safely be stated as -1. The only fatality being one of their own who likely committed “Suicide by cop”. Making them more of a danger to themselves than others.
(The record holders for least lethal terrorist group to others is still the Weather Underground with 3 fatalities. All their own, -3)
Right Wing extremist murders for 2018 are at over 100.

The problem is the guns. There are WAY too many of them. How are you going to get enthusiastic gun owners to address that problem?
I am a gun owner, but only by happenstance. I inherited all of them, and I have never fired any of them. If there’s ever a government buy-back, I’ll be first in line.

We are in agreement. I just happen to think that taking the guns would do a lot for that retraining program. Toxic masculinity becomes a lot less toxic when the killing tools are removed.

To shoot at people a lot in a short amount of time. Excepting snipers they don’t really expect a great shots-to-hit rate.
