NYPD cop confiscates motorcycle for reckless driving, then drives it recklessly and crashes it

The dirt bikes are a particular bugbear for the cops, though. Supposedly, when it comes to dirt bikes on city streets, the standard operating procedure is to arrest the driver and confiscate the vehicle.

Ah. I see what you mean. Vehicles are usually returned, after many unreasonable fees are paid. For what it’s worth if the police seize money they find for almost arbitrary reasons, they rarely give it back. It’s a real problem here in the US. If someone who isn’t a cop takes your money at gunpoint and never gives it back we call that a robbery.
