i read an article about a guy suffering from extreme allergies and asthma who traveled to africa so he could infest himself with hookworms. after his body had fought them off for a while his allergies diminished and he would deworm himself but first started a colony of hookworms so he could reinfest himself months down the line when the benefits of the hookworms had started to wear off.
it was an oddity.
