Odd Stuff (Part 2)

I remember reading the article, but fuzzy on the reasons. IIRC, it had something to do with cost and insurance?

That could be true. I had a friend from France, who when she was living here, ended up flying home to get dental work done because it would be cheaper, even with airfare.

Still, it seems like the downsides in this case would out weight the cost savings?

Maybe it was a tit-mouse?

“No, you don’t put the leeches on your skin. We’re not barbarians. Just pop a couple under your tongue and let them dissolve.”

Misquoted from Blackadder.

Possibly started as a blue-tit, ended up a robin red-breast.

(please someone tell me if I crossed a line there)

Etymologically speaking, titmouses is more appropriate, since the “mouse” in titmouse is from the old english “mase” for “small bird,” and completely unrelated to the rodent.

But a lot of respected birding resources use titmice as the plural. Because, how can you not?

This little foray did get me wondering how far astray we could take the name, though. Like, breastrodents…which brings us full circle to the start of this little devolution. I  the BBS.
