Well, it’s no longer controversial in terms of research, not so sure about people being prescribed them, yet… 100% agreed on sterility being undesirable and generally detrimental to human health though.
Definitely what I’d expect from one of those hyper little ankle biters.
A house in the neighborhood that still has their Christmas lights up, and on.
Leaving Christmas lights up and on for as long as possible was a kind of tradition in Aurora IL (Motto - City of Lights). It wasnt unusual to see fully illuminated families of reindeer on rooftops as late as Memorial Day. An ordinance was passed in 2005 to limit the period to 60 days after Christmas, but over the years this was frequently extended to 90 days due to bad weather.
This tree is inside of course. And no, it isn’t a COVID solidarity measure.
Many, many people kept them up here this year. And who could blame them? We didn’t as my daughter’s birthday is the 6th of January, Nollaig na mBán, so we have them gone on the 5th. Barely any left now though, I think it’s less fatigue than the fact that the night are getting shorter and the evenings longer. A grand stretch in the evening there is now. Definitely improves the mood.
In recent years, there was a pair of neighbors who would try to outdo each other by keeping their over-the-top decorations up as long as possible. Picture kids hunting for easter eggs in the shadow of a 20-foot tall inflatable Santa Claus.
that is probably going to infect my dreams tonight . . . thanks.

Odd things indeed…
Just posted this thread somewhere else the Gen-x story came up, but in case y’all don’t see it:
I know generations aren’t monolithic, but this thread gave me goosebumps of the good variety.
We have friends who own a house in Cerritos CA, a community with just a wee bit fewer restrictions than Irvine CA. They left their Christmas lights up into mid-January and got a letter from the city, threatening a fine. The husband wrote back and told the city’s code enforcement that they celebrate some obscure Christian faith and that their lights must remain until 12 weeks after Christmas, as a symbolic gesture to the Epiphany. The city wrote back and apologized.
