Babadook was the first horror movie I have liked in recent memory. I hope the time of torture horror is coming to an end.

can’t disagree more - sorry guys - I think the 1st half had potential - as a story about a single mom dealing w/ a horrible mess of a kid - and all the horror that follows from there (ie - not really horror but painful drama) - but when they went full on horror movie w/ the insipid looking babadook - then it fell flat for me - such scary horror w/ supernatural creatures have been done much much better before and since by others…there was no need to turn an art movie into an actual horror movie - and wasted both.
