Maybe it wasn’t stolen? “I better move this out of the way for now. Let’s see, I’d better put it some place safe where I won’t lose it…”
When I do that, it can take years to find them too.

Sounds good in principle, but apparently two people remembered where it waa put and called. So at one time, both new. You and me both know that Mrs. Mycroft and Mrs. Luther would be tell us when we mislaid our Klimts, so: not possible.
