Pastafarian Asia Carrera wears colander hat for driver license photo

“I think it’s funny” isn’t a protected category for license photos. If someone truly follows the pastafarian way, then fine, they should wear the colander. Someone who goes in strictly to make fun of religion risks damaging that protection. It makes serious people think that pastafarianism is a joke, which we all know that it absolutely is not.

Ooh! Horns. please let it be realistic looking horns!

If I can wear a giant set of elk antlers, I’m marching down to the local satanic temple and signing up!

I’m going to bet with the internet and all, it’s probably not an issue of not being recognized as much as it is people possibly recognizing her from her admittedly admirable body of work, but being unable to fess up to it in a largely conservative and religious society at large.

I’m betting that repressive religious societies are very familiar with pornography, albeit very secretly.

I guess the quote at the end is sincerely meant then; sad how this would probably take on a much more sinister tone over here.

I have actually run into the occasional Iranian and one Saudi passport with full head covering, which is always a bit awkward, since, well, having to explain that a document issued by your government to confirm your identity does not actually confirm your identity and how the hell did you cross the border with this document anyway is rather embarrassing for all parties involved.

I think @bolamig was referring to Mormonism, not the city as a whole. SLC isn’t dry, although it is fairly restrictive was fairly restrictive — apparently they’ve loosened up. (They used to restrict alcohol service to “private clubs” but in practice many of the clubs would give you a membership at the door for a nominal fee, so it was like a one-time cover charge. Still can’t get draught beer over 3.2% ABV though.)
