I’m going to throw out the point that Symbionic Titan was also cancelled due to a perceived lack of merchandising opportunities, even though it was popular and critically acclaimed, even to the point of showing up on boingboing. So I believe Dini’s accusation.

That’s the official reason, but I have to believe that Symbionic Titan didn’t win itself any friends with the Cartoon Network execs with sequences like this. Remember this wasn’t an Adult Swim show, it played in the early evening block.
