Pence was escorted to a safe room 1 minute before Trump rioters broke in to kidnap and hang him

Seriously. What is going on in Pence’s head? What the hell did Hair Furor say to him in the Oval Office on this last Monday?

“Jeeze, Don, you’re pretty bad with addresses. Here, I’ll write down Mother’s address for you.”

In their minds cops are their own personal army. Help that doesn’t subordinate itself properly gets made an example of. The entitlement is … revolting.

It might just be more of a hazard to spectators than to the condemned.

Enough on the construction tips already! They could be monitoring the resistance to the resistance!

“Once we found out Pence turned on us and that they had stolen the election, like, officially, the crowd went crazy. I mean, it became a mob.” They had already built the gallows long before they “became” a mob, so I say “What a load of crap.” That was no improvised, contingent action: it was the plan.

Ooh, ooh, I know this one… impedance, right?

Well, them too. (You better believe AOC or Pelosi would have been dead had the crowd caught up to them.) But it’s like Christians getting more upset about Judas than the Romans who crucified Jesus - the “betrayer” carries a lot of hate.

No, I won’t. They are all over the place here in Seditious Mo’s hometown. There is no engaging with them rationally; they will spew a verbal diarrhea of “rationalizations” because they are so deeply committed to their willful ignorance and hate.

Also, I don’t want to get shot.

Three guys are scheduled for execution by guillotine. Each is given a choice of facing up or facing down as the blade drops.

The first condemned man opts to face down, averting his eyes from the blade. When the blade is dropped, it stops a third of the way from the top. The executioners declare that this is a sign from God and the man is released.

The second condemned man also opts to face down. The blade stops halfway through the fall, and the executioners again conclude that God has intended the man to go free.

The third condemned man declares “I wish to lie on my back and face the heavens when I meet my maker.” His request is granted. Then just before the blade drops he says “Hey, I think I see the problem!”

In Trumps insurrection speech he kind of shrugged off the democrats as a lost cause and focused his ire on the betrayal by certain GOP that needed to be reminded how to be loyal to the orange fuhrer.

Yup and yup. Literally the day after I heard an interview with some random local idiot asshole who had traveled down to DC and he was spouting all sorts of half-formed (literally incomplete sentence thoughts) suggestions that it was some sort of false flag activity at the capitol. So that’s probably not a conversation worth having.

So… go with the reactive current?

I’m not Pence, and I can’t claim to think like him.

If it were me the only thing that would hold me back is a creditable threat against myself and/or loved ones.

Even then, after one attempt has been made, I’m unsure I would believe that holding myself back would avoid another attempt.

Like I said though I’m not Pence. I strongly believe that if someone tries to blackmail me the best response is tell them to just do it because it is better to take the hit for whatever they have now then to dig myself into a deeper hole while hoping that I won’t be exposed later (that said the only time it has happened to me in real life it was someone claiming I payed them with fake money when I know I payed them with something that came out of an ATM and looked legit to my eye so I told them if they really thought it was fake they should call the police right away – which is a pretty far cry from “after attempted murder I was told that was ‘just a message’ and if I didn’t comply the next time nobody could save me”, would I hold up that? Hope I never need to find out. Honestly though I doubt I would really think it through, I would probably just bludgeon them to death with whatever I have on hand)

In the version I heard, the third guy is an engineer. It’s a remarkably fair observation of the members of my profession.

From the intro to Steven Brust’s novel, Teckla:

THE TECKLA WERE REVOLTING

I’d always known they were. Teckla were lazy, stupid, cowardly peasants. Revolting. Old joke. But now they were revolting against the Empire. New joke.
