Pence was escorted to a safe room 1 minute before Trump rioters broke in to kidnap and hang him

And knot tying. That thing looks like it was picked up at a Michael’s halloweeen close out sale.

ETA: Aaaand I only had to read one comment further to realize @longtimelurker beat me to it. Two days ago.

“The Left” is basically the Hufflepuff of American politics. It’s everything that doesn’t fit under the categories of Republican, Libertarian or moderate. It is an umbrella with many different views under it, but if it hasn’t acted out with personal violence by now, then it is unlikely to start now.

Self-defensive violence is another matter.

Well I’ve heard A LOT of anecdotal stories of strongly left headed people buying guns in the lead up to the election, preparing to defend against a trump led coup. Not sure if these stories are true - they certainly did not turn out for the coup on 6Jan. I’ve not heard any news yet today on the planned “armed” marches by trumps people.

And how would they be different from the decade old John Brown Gun Club/Redneck Revolt? Or the Socialist Rifle Association?

I’m hearing stories about first time gun buyers.

I have no recollection where I learned it since it was decades ago (some time in Jr. high I think) but as FL young man I was taught how to tie a decent noose. It might have been boy-scouts since we did a whole series on knot making.

At that time, I was more into latch-hook, cross-stitch and embroidery rather than knot-making so I didn’t pay much attention. The binary nature of those three crafts interested me much more than a knot that I thought was used for sailing.

I know a few of those lefty first-time gun buyers. They seem mostly concerned with fending off the death squads, should they come to their house to drag them off-they all belong to one or another of the rage-target groups popular with the Fox crowd. The police showed over the summer that they can’t be trusted to answer a call for help.

I bet his expired passport has a college-age photo from when he thought about doing a semester abroad.

My best guess: Loud white noise occasionally interrupted by the voice of Mother screaming random bible verses.

Kind of shoots the theory that Il Douche will will resign in time for Pence to grant him a pardon in the foot, huh?

Now I’m imagining Pence having the Markov Gospel running in his head

“I have given your love for me, because you have no fear of those who had come to your house.”

I’m trying to work up an Eli the Iceman reference or joke. Imaginary power-related. But I got nothing…

As a non-USian who watched the Jan. 6 unfold in many livestreams, I was much relieved when most of the crowd vamoosed once the building was breached and the fisticuffs started. My guess is 90% of the mob was nowhere near as dedicated as the ones that made it into the building. Given the suspicious lack of security, had they all stuck around, this would have been much worse.

On the lack of security… I won’t be surprised if we find out this was planned, with direction from the White House. I’d wager good money direction came from Trump. With all the expected deniability.

As a casual reader of the places where these idiots gather (/pol/, /r/The_Donald, etc.), I’m most worried that the “chatter” is gone. It was blindly obvious something big was going to happen Jan. 6. I assume they’ve moved somewhere I’m not aware of or willing to go (darkweb, Parler, etc). My hope is the various intel agencies are monitoring them, hence the serious security posture we’re seeing.

Stay safe my US friends. I hope the Biden admin can wash some of the stank off y’all.

Basically all humor fails once you approach imaginary power because… 6-dimensional chess.

It could be the owners cutting it to avoid repercussions against their hosting or DNS. Breitbart had their comments locked pretty tight for a couple days.

And Jesus, answering, said, Have love for me, but in secret

Some of those could totally be real

He’s not that provincial. After all, he’s been to (many? most?) of the 50 states in the course of his duties as VP, as well as Asia & Europe.
Travel doesn’t seemed to have broadened him, though, so point taken.

Broadening is less appropriate here than shortening. Alternate claimants to a throne were regularly shortened. Worked fine.
