All of the garbage going on all around the world with, on, and because of Youtube, Facebook, and other sharing/streaming operations should surprise no one who understands engineering. Youtube algorithms and policies reward click counts without regard to the nature of the content that draws the clicks. That encourages the makers to keep pushing more and more. It’s positive feedback. And any engineer can tell you that you can’t control a system with positive feedback. Such feedback will cause any system to oscillate wildly out of control and eventually self-destruct.
It works the same way in the minds of weak-minded jerks who sell themselves for attention. This “PewDiePie” clod didn’t give a rat who gave him praise and clicks as long as he got them. He knew his garbage fuels the fires of racism and hatred, and he didn’t care because having people - even worthless people - pay attention to him gave him an ego-hard. If the theory of karma is correct and he gets what he deserves, he’ll spend eternity as a roll of paper in the toilet of Hell.
