I can’t find any information on whether the three people hanged in Hangtown/Placerville were minorities or not since the different accounts of the incident are scant on details and often contradictory. Either way the imagery is a gruesome celebration of a barbaric practice that is now inexorably linked to racist lynchings.
Super special bunch all through there.
This article cites the city’s history presentation which claims that three of the hangings were “two French and one Chilean”, which I think qualifies as minorities.
Interesting; various sources on the internet describe the hanging victims as anything ranging from “cattle rustlers” to “robbers” to “murderers” to just “three men who rode into town with guns a-blazing” and the hangings themselves as either a lawful execution or a lynching.
It’s pretty grotesque to celebrate a hanging in any circumstance, but especially when nobody even seems to have an authoritative account of how or why the hanging took place. Cheering violence for violence’s sake.
It’s the American way!
I always thought the Ferengi were based on the ethics, policies & habits of the (former) GOP.
Who knew that one would be elected POTUS…
Not laughing here, Papasan.
I never ignore hints/tricks from Sailors, Welders, or Mechanics.
I live in Placerville, El Dorado County…
Yes, we are surrounded by Qarens and Trumpaholickers here, but rest assured there is a minority of librul progs in and around town “fighting the good fight” against blatant racism, homophobia, gun violence (&proliferation) and, sad to have to say it, freedumb revisionist history…
TheNoose has only been on the town logo for about forty years, so the “yer tak’in our History away!” argument doesn’t reflect the actual history of the town. The original name of the mining town, formed here by an assortment of immigrant foreigners, was “Dry Diggins” (for the lack of water and ease of finding “color”.) Regardless, the trumpublican majority (65%) will probably start petitioning for a “re-hang the noose!” measure in the '22 election.
Don’t get me started on the preponderance of blue-stripe, 'Murican flag trucks rolling coal all over,
ugh.
Some argued that it is part of the history of the town, but others said it is violent and gives the city a bad reputation, the station reported.
The latter’s reasoning is proudly embraced by the former.
Quark would make a much better President than Trump… his mother would just end up in charge anyway, and she was a woman of vision… and of course his brother was a labor organizer.
It has also been been used as a Hollywood makeup trick to reduce bags under the eyes.
