On the one hand, not getting grifted by GM is a good thing. But Trump just does not understand time. Time here is precious, and we do not have much of it before we are going to really need these. Even if we started yesterday, we’re going to need them before we have them. We can’t just lie and say that we have them and expect that to save lives. And even if the US manages to avoid needing them, other places in the world will.

I heard a rumor that hundreds of millions are being spent to build a useless fucking wall along the Southern border. Maybe those funds could be (re)reallocated for critical, lifesaving medical equipment?
Or maybe we should just get Mexico to pay for the ventilators? We’re likely to have more success that way.

It feels dirty defending the orange cheeto, but from what I hear the limiting factor will soon be the number of trained nurses available to operate the ventilators.
OTOH, a ventilator and somebody who learned how to use one from Youtube is still probably better than no ventilator.
