Popular man's closet now "90% womens' clothing"

Thanks … I’ve driven by there many times.

Small world thing: we quite possibly know each other; I’m an amateur cosplayer but know ####s of costumers/cosplayers in the Valley.

If you’ve been to the renfaire on the way to globe, you’ve seen my wife

Yeah, all hand made and historically accurate.

“This is now” guy is wearing a normal-fitting suit, not slim-fitted. Asian Guy #2 is wearing the currently fashionable way-too-small fitted style, except his cuffs aren’t highwater enough. Apparently your socks are supposed to be showing even when you’re standing up. It’s a ridiculous look that’s going to age just as badly as those 1970s belted plaid jackets with too many external pockets.

The socks thing is dumb. When standing still there should be an infitesimal slouch on the front of your shoe. (No cuffs for FSM sake!!)

But living through the Don Johnson baggy suit era, and even though I am pudgy, give me fitted.

On the first comparison the Bell shape or flitted edges on the bottom of his jacket are driving me crazy. They look terrible. And his pants are still too long, unless he is gonna be running in them.

But I have seen tons of dudes in the square, formless version on the left. I’ll take bad hemming over reconstructing a jacket any day.

CSB: I was at a bar two weeks ago and one of the owners had his pants all the way up over his long socks. I almost asked, “are those capri’s?” Before realizing he had just pegged them that high.

Best part? My ankles look better.

Jeans are annoying now, but the more “expensive” brands are the only ones that fit anymore. JBrand, Citizens of Humanity or Polo Ralph Lauren (not Ralph Lauren Denim or Laura, only the Polo line!) all jeans that fit well, last well, and are stupid amounts of money… /sigh

Nice. I have a pretty swag ren fair costume. Didn’t really like the period hat I had, but my ex-mother-in-law got me a Polish Highlander hat with an eagle feather. So it is period, but with a bit more flair to it.

My men’s clothes are men’s clothes. My women’s clothes are women’s clothes. They are very different. Today the roof needed work, so Carhartts were called for. Last week was Bikeanalia (a Dionysian bike revel), where a paisley dress was just right.

A purse is required when wearing women’s clothes.

I always find it amusing when detective shows are like “Ah, the suspect is a heavyset woman with size 8 feet.” Yeah, come look in my closet and see my 3 different shoe sizes and 8 different clothing sizes. You’re looking for a size 10 woman? I have clothes in sizes 4-12 that all fit me. And that’s not even counting stuff I make myself (because pattern sizing is different). Good luck with that.

I would like to hang out with your wife sometime.

I’m a big fan of flouncey skirts. This weekend at the convention I was at, I was digging all the young women in lolita dress! So cute!

I don’t even do that! I’m sitting around reading or writing mostly. I should go out and do a sport because maybe then I wouldn’t die at 50 from my sedentary lifestyle.

Flouncy is great. It really is.

…makes driving, elevators, and sitting in booths interesting

The dresses Heather makes have rigid boning in the farthingale, horizontally, which is even more fun. And all of the upper torso stuff is tied and cinched, which I’ve gotten decent at.

I am not a cosplayer, but I love the artistry and history in accurate dress. Plus, hurdy gurdys

Bleah. Disagree. They always look too… professional to me.

Not me. I’m all about the flare. Boot cut since I haven’t been able to get actual bellbottoms in waaaay too long. I kinda can’t stand turtlenecks, but otherwise I’ve been a lifelong admirer of Rudy’s threads.

I used to have that build, too. Never thought I’d miss that blazing metabolism I had in my teens and twenties.

Thanks for the idea, but I actually hate skirts and dresses. Always have.

I admit, I do have a soft spot for utilikilts, I may buy one one day.

“That Was Then” looks less like “regular fit” and more like something you’d buy as the base for a Businessman Clown outfit.
