Prince Andrew stripped of all military titles

He reportedly bought the chalet for £18 million. The £6.6 million debt was the final instalment of the payment to the vendor. Now that he has paid that debt he can sell the chalet and presumably get a lot more than £6.6 million.

I’m so worried that those units “Prince” Andrew was associated with will miss his great leadership, inspiration and courage. Morale will probably disintegrate.

Also (seriously) wondering if this kerfluffle will cause the Brits to abandon the whole monarchy charade, and just let Boris Johnson be…oh, I see.

There are also Royal Patrons to various units who serve as “Colonel-in-Chief” – it’s largely ceremonial, change of command ceremonies and whatnot – although apparently Camila took a great deal of her time to be available to members of her units and their families, pressing for any delays in getting the services they need, etc.

I assume they come to change-of-command ceremonies and whatnot. I imagine as a former Navy pilot himself, losing the roll as Colonel-in-Chief of Fleet Air Arm is a (very deserved) kick in the balls.

One imagines the legal expenses are unimaginable—dealing with the law in two or more countries and territories, depositions, court time. Not feeling real sorry for him though, unless he’s innocent.

It’s my understanding that the Prince of Wales, for reasons unspecified, has wanted to sideline the Duke of York for some time now, and is presently capitalizing on the opportunity.

Quite so. /s

The dramatic move comes hours after more than 150 military veterans wrote to the Queen to ask her to strip Andrew of his honorary military roles amid what they described as their “upset and anger”. The palace had said earlier on Thursday that it had no comment on their open letter.

Writing to her in her capacity as head of state and commander-in-chief of the army, navy and air force, an open letter from former members of each of the services said that it was “untenable” for the Duke of York to retain his position.

“Were this any other senior military officer it is inconceivable that he would still be in post,” they say in the letter, sent the day after a Manhattan judge rejected Prince Andrew’s efforts to dismiss Virginia Giuffre’s sexual assault lawsuit against him. The duke denies the allegations against him.

I have been told that the pressure to strip his military titles came from veterans and the military seeking not to be connected with him, He always seemed to be particularly unlikeable anyway.

And looky at what’s just above my unsourced ramblings!

Just an addition.

Giuffre’s suit now involves a second accuser, set to testify at some point.

More practically speaking it sounds like a pretty big reduction in his official ties to and any role in the Royal Family. By extension any status in or with the UK government.

Ceremonial as that all may be. I guess you could read it as a sort of warning shot as goes any diplomatic status or protection.

He’s been dodging US authorities and courts. Apparently we’re applying some diplomatic pressure on getting him to participate.

Someone on a UK bulletin board jokingly demanded I put up my dukes. I said that we have no titles here in Yankistan, but I could still do very well despite this. I posted photographs of Duke Ellington and John Wayne, and my nemesis, with much respect, immediately conceded the fight.

You’ll know he’s desperate when he sells St. Hubert.

Also I think the excellence that is Canadian rotisserie chicken is a hidden gem, around the world everyone knows about Tim Hortons, but the Chicken places are the real Canadian gem IMO.
