If anyone had ‘Stole dogs from the Amish’ on their Santos bingo card - please raise your hands.
It was a very, very long time ago so I don’t remember the details, but it was a story about Amish puppy mills, where some governmental authority had told them they had to improve the living conditions of the dogs, and the guy running the puppy mill just shot the dogs. It was easier than getting it all up to standards. Because according to Amish beliefs animals don’t have souls so it doesn’t matter. So honestly if George Santos scammed an Amish puppy mill, good for him.
Not a monopoly, but a strong over-representation, not just in Pennsylvania, but also other states. For example large volume dog breeders have to register in Ohio. Almost half of the state’s licensed breeders are in Holmes county, the center of the state’s Amish country. It is one of those things that sits on the boundary of reality and weird religious stereotypes (there were a bunch of Amish puppy mill abuse stories in the 90s).
Much as I despise puppy farmers, I can’t get on board with santos ripping off said evil people in order to rip off unsuspecting folk.
The enemy of my enemy thing doesn’t work for me in this case.
They’re both my enemy.
To my thought process, it never really does. The enemy of my enemy is just that. They may be my friend, also my enemy, or just not figuring into my interests at all. The friend of my enemy, however, is also my enemy.
