Q-Nuts: "It's the Delta Variant, Charlie Brown"

In general, if they know it to only be a white thing, they claim it as such. From founding modern civilization as we know it to how things are represented in cartoons, they speak up to defend whiteness (and masculinity, even when it doesn’t apply).

I somehow cannot imagine frump enjoying, or indeed, listening to, any kind of music.

Or , for that matter, having any sort of interest in any art of any type at all that wasn’t an image of himself.

don’t worry, the follow-up’s coming where every. single. panel. is charlie brown alone.

:crying_cat_face:

( actually, i don’t see pigpen or franklin. so maybe there’s some hope in peanuts land yet )

I thought this was very much in keeping with the main themes of Peanuts. For me it’s about Charlie Brown being exhausted with life and other people. The form that exhaustion takes is covid related, but this, to me, was a love letter to the original.

Guys, here’s the real deal (for what its worth):

And remember: a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.

The professor in my science fiction as literature course in college insisted on SF if you were going to abbreviate. Sci-fi he mocked as “skiffy”

To be fair though, he was kind of a dick

Let’s go back to scientific romance, I say.

Was your professor Harlan Ellison? I swear he wrote in Watching pretty much exactly what your prof said, right down to “skiffy.”

No, though I did once get to hear Ellison in person deliver an incredibly funny and obscene live story about alien sex monsters called Kazaldans (sp?) which I have never been able to find referenced anywhere, even though it was obviously a prepared bit he had done before. Completely inappropriate for 13yo-at-the-time me to hear, of course.

I assume that my Prof was just parroting Ellison. It would track

He was very strict about it back when he hosted the Hour 25 radio show too.

If you’re going to parrot anyone, parrot one of the best. I’m jealous you got to see and hear him live. (I hear he was also a massive jerk. I’m willing to shrug it off for him.)

It was an experience - I was 13 and doing security at at an early SpaceCon, because back in the 70s it was fine to have a 13 year old escort a very drunk Yeoman Rand around a convention center.

Sooooo off topic now

Then you have the lunatics of Stormfront who declared that musical genres proven to have originated with Blacks (including Blues, Jazz, and even Rap) were created by Whites. Then you have Kerry Livgren (formerly of the band Kansas) who shared (via a CD ‘bonus’ on an A.D (band) album) his theory that Whites invented the Blues.
