Is having 174 tabs persisting in the browser considered a bad thing? (In this window, anyway; the other two browsers windows don’t count, right?)

Even the one from my uncle’s online memorial 3 years ago? (I swear I’ll get around to downloading the photos soon…)

Estimates are that Schiaparelli dropped from a height of between 2 and 4 kilometres, therefore impacting at a considerable speed, greater than 300 km/h. The relatively large size of the feature would then arise from disturbed surface material. It is also possible that the lander exploded on impact, as its thruster propellant tanks were likely still full. These preliminary interpretations will be refined following further analysis.

If Musk sends people to Mars in more than one vehicle odds are that some of them will survive, right?

Can I confess to being really conflicted about this? Because my dad worked on the South Side so when we went to games together it was usually the Sox, thus they were my team…but I grew up in northern suburbs and all my friends were Cubs fans, so I could never really develop the hatred for the Cubs that Sox fans are supposed to nurture?

LOL!

It’s not betting against them, really. It has to do with prejudice. The whole south side is supporting the Cubs, flying the W flag:

and honestly hoping for the best for that team.

The White Sox get further, including into the playoffs, more often, and cross-town support has NEVER occurred on the north side or in the suburbs (where a significant percentage of the Cubs fans actually live).

If the Cubs do win, that whole side of town will be insufferable for weeks. And will trash entire neighborhoods.

It’s almost like the concept of the team has become a victim of its own failure. It’s not really about baseball, in a way.

It’s going to be ugly here if they win. And not much better if they lose.

But if it means everyone will stop going on and on about “the curse” and goats and all that from now forward, that would be nice.

I actually do have a soft spot in my heart for them, but only because Stevie Goodman loved the team. A Chicago folk artist in the 1970s and 80s (until he died of leukemia), Stevie wrote two of the iconic songs about the Cubs because he loved them that much. So they can’t be all bad!
