If we survived Nixon and the Bush election fiasco, can’t we survive this?
Am I the only one that thinks America is somewhat more resiliant that us Americans?
OTOH, am I the only one who has tried to figure out the calculus of “keep my head down because I have a family” and “actively resist if only to speak up”? [I’m not joking.]
Am I ever been more sure you are not the only one?
But can’t it be said that Bush and Nixon, at the very least, had a history of being a public servant and could compromise on things instead of being outwardly selfish bastards who were only out for themselves?
I’ve watched Kennedy-Nixon, both of them are reasonable during those debates and actively respect each other and understand that they both want what’s best for America, just under slightly different methods, who can say the same for the choices this year? Nixon tried to get national healthcare passed!
America is resilient, I just worry about rights being actively taken away from Americans, and as a white dude, aren’t I under obligation to speak up for those whose voices aren’t listened to? It’s precisely because of my White Dudeness that means I and my family will be fine so why not speak up?

edited to add: haven’t I just noticed that there’s only one errant sentence in the middle paragraph, so isn’t there an easier solution?

Why, aren’t three out of four enough? Isn’t the initial question the main question?
Who are you protecting them from and isn’t the danger from internal shootings greater than any external threat?
You expect me to consider the issues and perform a risk assessment? Shouldn’t I go with my gut feels?
Isn’t it likely that, under the new regime, scofflaws will be dealt with biggly and harshly?
Doesn’t that depend on how much you like your family?
And, as a white male, won’t I just be free from persecution? After all, it’s just words, not deeds, right?
